Orlando Santoro earned his MSc in Chemistry from the University of Salerno (Italy) in 2011 and in 2016 completed a Ph.D. in the same discipline at the University of St Andrews (UK). He held two postdoctoral fellowships funded by Total Petrochemicals (2017-19 and 2020-21) at the Université de Rennes 1 (France). From February 2019 to September 2020, he worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Hull (UK). In January 2022 he was appointed Assistant Professor at the Università degli Studi dell’'Insubria (Italy). Orlando’s main research interests span from the synthesis of novel catalysts based on multidentate ligands for the synthesis of biodegradable polyesters to the development of sustainable polymers derived from renewable sources (biomass, plastic waste).
