Stéphan Bruzaud

Who I am

After a doctorate in polymer chemistry obtained at the University of Bordeaux, Stéphane Bruzaud was appointed Lecturer at the University of Bretagne-Sud in 1996. He obtained his Habilitation to Direct Research in 2006 and is today now Professor at the University of South Brittany in Lorient. For 15 years, he has specialized in the study and engineering of biopolymers, from their production from renewable resources until their end of life. Its activities concern the development of virtuous approaches for the development and formulation of biosourced and/or biodegradable polymers. He has also led several programs or theses on recycling and on the (bio)degradation of these polymers in different environments. Stéphane Bruzaud also develops research about the evaluation of plastic contamination in the environment, with the objective to establish protocols for the sampling and the analysis of microplastic fragments collected in sediments and seawater.
