Mauro Comes Franchini

Full Professor (2021) of Organic Materials Chemistry at the University of Bologna, with a degree in Industrial Chemistry and a PhD in Chemical Sciences. Associate Editor of RSC Advances since 2014 and member of the Honorary Editorial Board of the International Journal of Nanomedicine since 2012. His scientific output includes over 160 international publications, 23 patents, and numerous contributions to books and conferences. His research focuses on Additive Manufacturing of organic and bio-based materials, the development of bio-inks for gel-extrusion 3D printing, and the synthesis and functionalization of nanoparticles for nanomedicine, drug delivery, imaging, and theranostic applications. He has coordinated or contributed as local PI to several competitive international projects (HORIZON, FET-OPEN, AIRC, FP7, PNRR) and has carried out industrial research. Awarded the 2017 Prize in “Organic Chemistry for Nanoscience” by the Italian Chemical Society, he integrates academic research, technology transfer, and industrial valorization in the field of advanced materials.
