Vinavil at Milan Polymer Days: Bridging Research, Industry and Sustainable Polymer Innovation

In this interview, Dr. Tito Zanetta shares Vinavil’s R&D vision and the challenges driving the development of next-generation materials: from sustainability and advanced formulation design to the integration of technical performance with environmental responsibility. The discussion provides a clear insight into how research, when closely connected to industrial applications, can be translated into concrete and scalable innovation.

What made your company decide to support this congress, and why was it important for you to be here this year?

From an R&D perspective, we chose to support this congress because it brings together the scientific, technological and industrial dimensions of our field. For our research teams, it is essential to stay closely connected to the latest developments, emerging methodologies, and real application challenges.

What’s the biggest challenge or opportunity in your industry right now that excites you the most?

The most stimulating challenge for us is redesigning materials and formulations to achieve higher sustainability while maintaining—or even improving—technical performance and durability. From an R&D standpoint, this requires a deep understanding of chemistry, interfaces and long-term behavior. At the same time, it represents a tremendous opportunity to push innovation forward and to develop next-generation solutions that respond to both regulatory demands and customer needs.

If you had to describe your company to the audience in one powerful message, what would it be?

We are a company where research and application knowledge come together to transform complex challenges into reliable, innovative solutions.

What innovation, project or idea are you showcasing here that could shape the future of the field?

What we are showcasing here is our R&D-driven approach to innovation: advanced technologies developed through long-term research projects and partnerships, extensive testing and close interaction with end-use applications. Our focus is on designing systems that combine performance, efficiency, and sustainability from the earliest stages of development, ensuring that innovation is not only novel, but also robust and scalable.

Beyond visibility, what’s the real value for a company in participating in events like this?

For R&D, the real value lies in high-quality exchange. Events like this allow researchers and technical leaders to confront ideas, validate research directions and identify emerging trends early on. They also provide opportunities for collaboration—with universities, research centers and industrial partners—which are essential to accelerate innovation and reduce the gap between research and application.

When people leave this congress, what do you hope they will remember about your company?

I hope they will remember us as a company that takes research very seriously, strongly investing in knowledge, innovation and long-term development and believing scientific excellence is the foundation for sustainable industrial progress.
